100% Eri Silk Scarf(short beige)

$45.00

Length 128cm

Width 44cm

This is a short eri silk scarf dyed with natural plant dye (avocado & eucalyptus).

It is short and compact and surprisingly does the job of keeping you warm.

I’ve included three images of what it looks like when it is worn ( an indigo dyed one that I’ve kept for myself). It should give you some idea of the drape and feel of the cloth after being worn a couple of times.

Love my eri silk!

Description

100 % SILK SCARF/STOLE/RUNNER

PRECIOUS SLOW CLOTH (ERI SILK)

  • Sourced from a village level enterprise of spinners and weavers in far north-east India.
  • Handwoven with hand spun silk yarn.
  • Please handwash or use the gentle machine wash option.
  • The cloth will appear to shrink and go out of shape after a wash.
  • Ironing (cotton /linen setting) is recommended to get your shawl back to it normal shape and size.
  • The silk yarn was starched to assist in the weaving process. This will wash off gradually and will cause the cloth to get softer.
  • If the cloth should ever snag and tear, use silk thread to darn the area. This adds character.
  • Do treasure this cloth produced by human hands, as our ancestors would have done centuries ago!

Some more information on Eri Silk:

Reared throughout the year, it requires less land and produces a white, creamy white or reddish silk.

Eri silk is strong, moisture absorbent, durable with good elasticity, drapes well, has a soft, matt, woolen or linen-like finish. It is heavier and darker than other silks.
