In my family I’m generally the one coffee a day person. So suffice to say that I’ve come a long way from the days of instant brews to grinding my own beans and savouring the drink produced.

Mark & Judie Fairweather of  Australind Coffee Roasting came to our attention about three years ago when they began their single origin coffee roasting venture. It was at one of their early forays into the market scene. Since then, Mark now is one of my close neighbours at the monthly Boyanup Farmers Market as well as the regular supplier of locally roasted quality coffee beans for our home.

Mark roasts 6 single origin coffee beans, namely Colombian, Guatamelan, Sumatran, Kenyan, Lintong & Far North Queensland as well as their special signature blend “Kuza” in WA’s south-west in his custom made roastery.

The passion for roasting single origin coffee beans and turning it into a viable business came as a result of Mark’s previous background in machine fabrication and interest in manufacturing equipment including coffee bean roasters. This along with their travels around Australia visiting various roasteries and enjoying their respective coffees sparked the beginning of the coffee roasting journey.

Having given up a full-time job, this is now Mark’s occupation, enabling him to find great satisfaction roasting coffee beans just right, making fresh hot coffee daily for his customers and enjoying interacting with them.

Despite the challenges of the business in the form of the occasional long hours,  full commitment and consistent effort, Mark is happy with the benefits of being his own boss and turning work into a lifestyle of choice. Regular customer satisfaction continues to be one of the perks to this job.

Australind Coffee Roasting is a constant presence at the Bunbury Markets (1st & 3rd Sat of the month) and Boyanup Farmers Market (4th Sunday of the month).

Besides coffee beans, you can also avail of hot coffee to go via their coffee van. You’ll find Mark and his van every morning Monday to Friday at Halifax doing his run around Bunbury.  You may also find them at several events around the south-west.

Chris’ Sea to You Gourmet Food Store in Busselton as well as Shed Markets at Vasse stock beans for Australind Coffee Roasting Company.

If you are looking for locally roasted coffee why not check out the Australind Coffee Roasting Company? We’ve tried all their coffee beans to our great satisfaction aside from the Far North Queensland beans which Mark describes as having its own very characteristic flavor. Perhaps a good choice for people who also want something from as close to home as possible?

Mark’s personal favourite would be the Guatamelan Antigua for its regular, all day drinkable flavor whereas I have more of an affinity for the Colombian.

Prices for all the coffee varieties excluding the Far North Queensland are as follows (prices are subject to change. Check with Mark for current pricing)

$12 – 250g, $20 – 500g, $38 – 1 kg
